The NSHCS facilitates the work based element of the ASP Programme; ASP trainees will be subject to the same requirements for work based learning as trainees attending the programme at the same level.

  • More information and guidance about the work based learning element for the level of the ASP programme is provided by the NSHCS: STP Level.
  • For ASP Programmes at STP level, the completion process for work based learning will follow the process for STP including completion deadlines. More information can be found on the website.
  • On conclusion of the programme, access to the e-portfolio will be withdrawn; content recorded in the e-portfolio may be downloaded for future reference.
  • Trainees are expected to complete the work based learning and undertake OSFA within the time period determined in the ASP Programme Specification.
  • Evidence submitted for work based learning assessment must be completed during the period of enrolment on the ASP programme, retrospective evidence cannot be considered.
  • Where a trainee encounters circumstances which may delay completion of the ASP programme, the Training Officer or Employer Sponsor must contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. in a timely manner. Please provide details of the anticipated period of delay and if this will impact on OSFA attendance. Employers are responsible for support and management of Trainees through these circumstances.
  • Trainees exceeding the time period determined in the ASP Programme Specification will be subject to an additional charge for continued access to the programme and e-portfolio of £200 per year.
