I'm a Clinical Scientist/specialty expert involved in delivering the STP. How can I contribute to the curriculum content review project?

You can have a hands-on role reviewing curricula and writing curriculum content through the Specialty Curriculum Review Groups. We’ll be recruiting Specialty Lead Editors to lead the review and Specialty Writers to review and draft content. We’ll be recruiting for Specialty Lead Editors throughout the project. Keep an eye on our news feed and Twitter for the latest specialities going through review. If you’re interested in taking part, you can express your interest in either role here.

You can provide feedback on the Curriculum Library and your curriculum through the feedback option in the Curriculum Library. We will take your comments forward as we review each speciality curriculum.

Making sure your training gets you ready to work at the highest level in healthcare, understanding and advising on the most recent advances in technology and innovations is vitally important. Reviewing and developing a curriculum to these high standards takes time. If you’re currently on the STP it is unlikely that you will be affected by curriculum review. If you will be affected, we will be in touch to let you know when and how your training will change.

I'm thinking of applying to the STP, how will the curriculum content review project affect me?

You’re the future of healthcare science. We’re working hard to make sure your training equips you with all the skills and knowledge you need to work at the highest level in healthcare. You can view the curriculum for all STP specialties in the Curriculum Library. The STP programme structure will stay the same but there may be changes to the content of your curriculum before you start your training. We’ll publish updated curriculum in the Curriculum Library. Any updates we do make, will ensure your training is at the cutting edge of your specialty.

We’ll be in touch to let you know when an updated curriculum is ready to be used for training. Our accreditation team will need will work through the changes with you and will provide guidance nearer the time.

We’ll be in touch to let you know when an updated curriculum is ready to be used for training. We’re aware you’ll have your own processes for managing change in your institution. Our accreditation team will work through the changes with you and will provide guidance nearer the time.

How will the curriculum look after the review?

The structure for the STP will be the same. We’ll be updating the content not the programme structure. Through the STP Improvement Review, you told us you were happy with the overall design of the STP. You can see an overview of the elements of your curriculum and find specialty curricula in the Curriculum Library.

How will STP improvement review feed into the STP curriculum content review project?

Over 1,000 trainees responded to the STP Improvement Review carried out in 2018. Since the Review report was released we’ve been working towards putting the recommendations into practice. Based on your feedback, we’ll be making some changes to Rotation modules. We want to make sure the Rotation modules give an insight into the current and future working practices of the specialties you’ll be working alongside, giving context to your role as a Clinical Scientist.
